Is Anybody There?

Is Anybody There?

Although Hastings prom and pier are only briefly glimpsed in this film, it’s still worth watching. A charming and real depiction of how a young boy comes to terms with the concept of death, while growing up in his parents’ care home in the 80s.

If this sounds depressing you’d be wrong, it’s just real and comes with a peppering of wry humour. Michael Caine is a delight as the curmudgeonly ex-musician and reluctant guest who befriends Edward, a boy obsessed with ghosts and contacting the dead.
