Daniel Judd grew up in Seaford, East Sussex where his parents ran a pub. After failing miserably at being a barman and a spell as an assistant manager of a shop, he decided to continue his education. He studied Information and Library Studies at the University of Brighton, choosing every Media Studies module going, hoping not to work in a library but in television.
After one interview for a library role, he was put forward for a role as a Presentation Scheduler for Sky where he worked for 2 years adding the bits between the shows. He even produced the news schedule for the day Princess Diana died.
Taking a leap of faith he worked as an Entertainment Editor for a start-up website. After learning a lot about writing copy for the digital medium, he took work as a freelancer, writing ‘fascinating facts’ for the new BBC ‘Red Button’ service.
Since then he has gone on to be an award-winning Digital Content Editor and has worked extensively with both the BBC and ITV, supporting some of the biggest drama and entertainment shows.
Credits include Strictly Come Dancing, Doctor Who, EastEnders, The Great British Bake Off, Dancing on Ice, How do you solve a Problem Like Maria?, MasterChef, I’d Do Anything and I’m a Celebrity.
Daniel has also worked on a number of digital campaigns for Sport Relief, Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need. The projects involved working closely with the both the charity and production teams and covering all of the BBC activity, programmes and events leading up to the big night and into the early hours.
In recent years he has worked on the editorial team for the iPlayer and as a digital producer for BBC Careers and for the British Heart Foundation and the British Museum. He has also been a contributor to books and DVDs on television and has also created websites for new charity projects.
In 2016, Daniel moved back to Sussex. He’s now doing all he can to get creative. You can read some of my efforts in the Writing section.
Career highlights include: covering filming of the first series of modern Doctor Who in a freezing Cardiff Bay, stepping onto a rainy Albert Square for the first time and hearing his team had won an International award while a bit chilly up a mountain near Snowdon.
